The versatility that text message communication provides is unmatched. Particularly when we have options like mass messages — for greater client reach, Marketing Campaigns — for business growth, and automated sending of repetitive responses — to lighten the workload. In addition to all these channels, we have the convenience of sending documents, images, and links to strengthen communication.

However, the sending of these resources is governed by federal regulations established by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which seeks to protect consumers from fraudulent or unwanted messages. As a result, telephony providers have taken on the task of adhering to this federal commission's rules and protecting their customers in the same way.

Consequently, in our case, we have seen an effect impacting the deliverability of messages containing links. This does not affect the messaging sent from our side, but rather how it is received by the client. For this reason, we have made adjustments to links that were previously filtered to ensure better message delivery.

To accomplish this, we have chosen to help shorten links that were previously sent. By shortening, we mean reducing the number of characters that make up a link, while also providing a private domain so it can comply with the FCC regulations.

Where will the changes be reflected?

Our team has worked on developing an adjustment where, when sending a message, BrainHi will detect the attempt to send a link. If one is detected, it will be converted into a short link under a private domain on our end.

The main places where we will filter links are:

  • Individual messages sent from the Conversations section
  • Mass messages sent from the Conversations section
  • Predefined messages set in the Messages section under Settings, which are sent by Lara.
  • Predefined links in the user profile, e.g., location.
  • Messages sent from Campaigns.

These efforts have been made to prevent messages from being identified by your client's telephony provider as "fraudulent" or "unwanted" (SPAM).

What can I expect next?

  • At this time all these changes will not require any action on your part, as they will happen automatically! So every link you configure in your automated responses — sent by Lara — or every link sent manually by you or your team, will be converted to a BrainHi link.
  • Optimization in message deliverability. By establishing a private link domain, we ensure we continue to comply with the rules stipulated for consumer protection.
  • We will be able to help you measure the actions taken by your clients. Each link sent can be tracked for usage and engagement. This progress can be discussed and requested from our Customer Success team by scheduling a consultation with your contact.
  • Important: Try to send original links rather than previously shortened links, as this could affect the deliverability or functionality of the sent link.
