BrainHi IVR: A New Call Rescue Experience
Updated over a week ago

A new call rescue experience through an interactive voice response system (or 'IVR').

With BrainHi IVR, when someone calls your business, they will hear a greeting message, followed by a menu of options. The caller will be able to choose the option they prefer by dialing a number on their keyboard.

This service is in beta — that is, in active development prior to the launch of the service. Some functionality may not be complete yet or parts of the service may not work properly. We’re counting on feedback from our beta users to optimize the service and be able to launch it to all our users.

Get started

To turn on the IVR service, go to the Call Rescue section in your BrainHi account settings, and press the Activate options menu in your Call Rescue message toggle:

Now, when someone calls your number, they will hear a greeting message, followed by various options.

Functionality Guide

Once you have activated the BrainHi IVR, you will see two main sections: the Greeting Message section and the Options Menu

Anywhere you see the 'play' icon, you can listen to the audio of the message:

Greeting Message

In the Greeting Message section, you can listen to the audio recordings of the initial message that the caller hears. There are two messages available: one for use during business hours, and one for when your business is closed (to update your business hours, go to your Profile settings).

You can replace the default recordings for the greeting message with audio files of your own. To replace an audio file, click the “Add another audio” button below the message you want to update, and select the audio file from your device:

For more information on the best ways to record your audio see Best Practices.

Options menu

The Options menu presents you with all the options the caller will hear following the greeting message. Here you can review each audio as well as the text message that is sent to the caller when they select an option.

If applicable, some main options will have sub-options. That is when the client chooses the main option the recording will be followed by sub-options. Which breaks down additional details related to the main option initially selected. You can review and/or configure the following information:

  • The message that the caller will hear after having selected the option

  • The text message that the caller will receive after having selected the option

  • A link to edit the text message that the caller will receive

To edit the text messages sent after selecting an option, click the “Change Message” button, which will take you directly to the relevant message in the Messages section of your BrainHi account settings:

Best Practices

Call Rescue Audio

To record a custom greeting message for your business, you don't need much, just your mobile phone.

Before recording, write down what you want to say in the message. Once you have it written down, practice two or three times before recording. Keep your message short and to the point—we recommend that you keep your recording under 10-15 seconds.

When you go to record, choose a quiet space without interruptions. Try to find a small space, too—this will prevent the sound of your voice from echoing back into the microphones in your phone.

Use the “Voice Memos” app on your iPhone or “Voice Recorder” on Android and record your message. Record it several times, then you will have several recordings to review, and choose the one you like the most.
